Equipment Hockey Tip: Blade Tape
Santa must have put me on the nice list in 2007. In my stocking I received a pair of Blade Tapes for my stick. If you’ve never seen these, you simply peel ‘n’ stick the thin rubber material to both sides of your stick blade instead of tape.
The Blade Tape seems to provide a little more cushioning on my composite stick and better grip for the puck than tape does. Now, I don’t have exactly have what anyone would consider ‘soft hands’, so I need all the help I can get. What I really like is that now there’s no more annoying shreds of tape straggling off the bottom of my stick.
I just realized the Blade Tape is in better shape than my stick!
I haven’t changed them since I put in on, so after 2 months they’re getting a little hacked up. No tape job on my stick ever lasted this long!
While I never really minded taping may stick before, now it’s one less thing to worry about. Especially if I’m running late for a game. I’ll get another pair of these for sure once they wear out. At $10, they are definitely worth trying out at least once to see if you like them.
You can Pick up a pair at your local hockey store or order online at:
